The Tax Advantages to Investing in Small Businesses

JSR Chartered Accountants ยป TaxationI recently heard about some major changes to the way that tax incentives will work for investors who are bank rolling small sized businesses. The main area of change seems to be surrounding the idea of programs like the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme. Basically, these changes will increase the amount that investors are allowed to invest, eventually growing to a maximum of 150,000 pounds sterling. Investors will not have control over which small company receives the money, but they will pick up a significant tax benefit in the year that they invest. This does only apply to UK businesses, but it sounds like it will provide some significant advantages, which might just give investors further incentive to consider small business investments. Personally, I prefer to put my investment dollars into small businesses. I like the idea of helping out the smaller companies, and I have seen some significant profits come from the investments that I have made. I am very happy to see these tax incentives beginning to change, and I hope it will entice others to think the way that I do.
